Description
Current work: Saed is the musical director of Al-Marjanah Ensemble and ASWAT Arabic choir and a Nagel scholar of Jazz and world music at San Francisco State University. He also teaches Arabic music and oud technique. Saed performs solo, with AL-Marjanah, ASWAT, and in collaboration with other musicians and groups.
Interests: Main interests are early 20th century Arabic and Jazz music and placing the oud as a solo instrument suitable for any idiom and tradition.
Repertoire: includes several hundred pieces in the Classical, folk and contemporary Arabic and Turkish idioms, and a continuously growing Bebop Jazz body of works.
