Description

Royal Masset recently started his own political consulting firm after spending 15 years as an employee with the Republican Party of Texas (RPT). While Political Director of the RPT, Royal trained over 3500 candidates and campaign managers at over 200 campaign schools held throughout Texas. In 1983 Royal invented the Optimal Republican Voting Strength (ORVS) formula for targeting winnable races.

These schools and the accuracy of the ORVS formula in targeting races contributed to the Republican Party of Texas being the most successful state Republican Party in the nation since 1983. When Royal started with the RPT all 27 of the non-federal statewide elected officials were Democrats. Today all 27 are Republicans. In recognition of his achievements, Royal received the highest award given to political consultants, the Rising Star Award from Campaigns and Elections Magazine. Royal graduated from Princeton University with Honors. He received a Masters of Divinity from the Episcopal Theological Seminary of the Southwest. He attended The University of Texas at Austin School of Law. He served as Executive Director of the Austin Citizens League for seven years before joining the RPT. Although he does not currently practice law, he is a licensed attorney and member of the State Bar of Texas. He is retained by the RPT as a political consultant and continues teaching campaign schools.
