- In his childhood, Roy Owsley was intrigued by nature's ever-changing patterns, shapes and color pallet that were part of the daily landscape seen and experienced on his family's farm in Sonora, Kentucky. These early experiences played a significant role in his pursuit of landscape painting and in becoming actively involved in environmental stewardship. An internally motivated and naturally gifted painter, he further honed his skills by relentlessly studying the masters at The Metropolitan Museum of Art and The Museum of Modern Art. He works almost exclusively with oil on canvas. Owsley paints out of his East Village studio, and resides with his wife in Hudson Heights, New York City.
