Rowan Cooperative Christian Ministries was founded in 1967 which turned into Rowan Helping Ministries in 1986. In 1989 RHM moved into the facilities at 226 North Long Street which has been the permanent home to the Shelter, Soup Kitchen, and Crisis Assistant Network. In 1996 "The Hope Fund" was established with a $308,000 gift from Hope Uzzell. The Eagle's Nest Transitional Housing program was established in 1997. In 2000 RHM's operational budget increased to over $1,000,000.00.
