I was born in Covington, Kentucky in 1937. I remember World War II reasonably well. We moved to Miami, Florida when I was 10 years old. My best friend was going to be a sculptor; I was going to be an actress. Now she is the actress and I am the artist. I was very active in Little Theater - Adelaide in Guys and Dolls, Annie in Oklahoma, Sadie Thompson in Rain, Ade in Tobacco Road. So, now in my work I am set designer, writer, director, star, and supporting cast. I just think that way. In school we painted in oil. I loved the method of scumbling - layering color over color always allowing the undercolor to come through. At that time there really wasn’t anyone at school who was adept with acrylics. Most of the work I’d seen in acrylic was hard-edged and uncompromising. Through the urging of my artist-husband Fred, I switched from oil to acrylic in 1986. I found that acrylic would do anything that oil paint could do, only faster!
