- Rob is fifty-six years old; received his Fine Art degree from the University of Southern California, and studied at L.A. Art Center under James Jordan. For over thirty years he worked variously as a film producer, senior advertising executive, and creative director for both corporate and international philanthropic endeavors. In the late nineties he put aside these “former worlds” to engage in a full time studied practice of the visual arts, primarily through the self-developed discipline of Extractionist™ Painting. By way of insight, Rob was born with acute dyslexia, and credits this once long suffered handicap as the principle instrument for his ability to look intently INTO objects rather than simply at them. Through the Extractionist process the artist’s one time weakness has become an innovative creative asset, enabling others to witness vivid scenes and striking images they might otherwise step right over, or find difficult to see resident in the little things all around them. Rob's work continues to appear in national and regional competitions, solo exhibits in San Francisco and Northern California, gallery exhibits in Southern California, and of course is always available for viewing through his studio gallery in Marin County. Rob's Extractionist paintings have been purchased by multinational corporations, university research scientists, military generals, and numerous other private collectors. He is presently represented by CODA Galleries in Palm Desert, California, Polonaise Galleries in Woodstock, Vermont, and ArtworkSF in San Francisco, California. Of course, he is always eager to discuss additional regional proprietary representation by accredited galleries and dealers.
