Our natural light originates from the Sun, a massive collection of hydrogen, helium and other gases, that has burned in our solar system for over 4.5 billion years.
The energy produced by the constant nuclear reactions within the Sun, produce light waves, that travel through the vacuum of space. Travelling at 299,792,458 metres per second, light waves from the Sun, take just over 8 minutes to reach us.
