- In 1850, the three Liebman brothers came to New York from Germany to carry on their father’s tradition of brewing good beer. They served their first glass of Rheingold in 1883, and it soon became a New York favorite. In 1963, the Liebmans brewed their last Rheingold. Today, nearly 120 years since it all began, the Liebman family and a new team are working passionately to make Rheingold New York’s beer once again.
