Multisensory systematic language is successfully and widely utilized in famous established schools and clinics catering to bright reading delayed children in the U.S.; Canada on the other hand offers very few similar programs for these children.
Educational rhetoric and a myriad of methodology debates have unfortunately taken precedence over effective treatment making these children and their parents victims of the debate. School districts across North America have a responsibility to this profile of student/they represent one in 5 students in our classrooms. The School system has been very slow in implementing research. Now with the United States No Child Left Behind Act schools will have no choice but to seek out effective research-based interventions.
"Orton Gillingham" methodology was developed by Dr. Samuel Orton and Anna Gillingham. Dr. Orton was foremost a scientist. Most of his writings deal with neurobiological concepts and theories surrounding dyslexia.
