Refuge Clothing Company originally started out as Virtuous Tees, an apparel company for women. As the company expanded and began carrying a men's line, we changed the name to Refuge Clothing Company. This name seemed like the perfect choice because "refuge" means a "safe haven" or "shelter from danger". That's exactly what we are about. We want young people to think of our site as a safe haven. Our clothing line is intended to not only be worn, but lived out in your everyday life. The messages on the shirts offer a shelter from danger or from a lack of dignity that is often found in many secular apparel companies.
Virtuous Tees was originally founded because striving to be a holy woman of God when shopping for T-shirts and tank-tops is a struggle that can become extremely difficult. Honestly, we here at Refuge Clothing Company desire to be fashionable and look our best, but that is really hard to do when society encourages women to dress less and show all. The popular thing to wear right now is a shirt that says "sexy" or "Playboy". These kinds of shirts send a message to others, especially guys that can be misleading and even harmful. It is hard to find a decent shirt these days. Either they cut too low or too high. Refuge Clothing Company is an apparel company that started to give women a solid way to express themselves as confident and respectable in the way they dress. Our Virtuous Tee line is a way to combat against the norm and fight for the dignity of women.
