I started programming computers in high school more than 25 years ago, on a Radio Shack TRS-80 that stored its programs on a cassette tape. When I moved up to the original IBM PC, I thought that was something really special, until 1988, when I got a Mac II (with a 256-color screen! Oh joy!) and fell in love with the Mac. I wrote some software for SoftDisk Publishing (same place John Carmack and id Software got started), and ported some PC games to the Mac -- Hole-in-One Miniature Golf, Hill Street Blues, and some others. In 1992 I published King of Solitaire through Artworx Software, an original title and my first big hit.
