About RedBankHumanists.org
"Scheduled Topic" Forum - The Forums are free and open to the public and all are welcome: humanists, freethinkers, agnostics, skeptics, atheists, and of course, those who are just curious. It is not necessary to be a member to attend. The format and schedule have evolved during the first five years. Over forty people now regularly attend and because of its popularity, a second monthly Forum has been added.
The goal is to create informative, provocative, and unique programs that help to explore the great questions of life through the lens of Humanism. Members are encouraged to submit Forum topics for consideration. Sometimes there is a guest speaker - an author or scientist - but usually the presenters are RBH members. Virtually any topic is allowed as long as the discourse remains civil. The discussions are lively and spirited...and often humorous. Attendees sit in a large circle, which fosters open and direct communication. All are invited to participate, but many prefer to simply listen. Often those attending will continue the discussion after the Forum over a meal or coffee.
"Open Topic" Forum - This 2nd monthly Forum is a different format than Scheduled Topic" Forum. At the Open Topic Forum attendees are invited to bring topics to suggest for consideration. The suggested topics are put to a vote and the group discusses them one by one, starting with the most popular, and moving on to the next topic when the group is ready. The discussion is moderated by the RBH President.
"Humanism 101" - Several times a year we present a basic introduction to the philosophy of Humanism and to the Red Bank Humanists. The presentations include videos, introduction of attending Board members, and a Q. & A. session. We always serve cookies!
