On October 10, 1994, Recycled Cycles opened it doors to the public. The other co-founder, Scott Martini, and I had envisioned Recycled Cycles to be an alternative to the "typical" bike shop by offering lower prices through the sale of pre-owned bicycles, parts, and accessories. We wanted Recycled Cycles to be a place where cyclists would want to shop, where bike shop professionals would want to work, and where both customers and employees could have fun sharing their knowledge of and enthusiasm for cycling. Although the shop has grown a lot over the past 11 years (we now also sell new bikes), these remain our goals to this day.
Shortly after we opened, business began increasing so we hired Reed, with whom we had worked at another bike shop, as our mechanic. After so many years of reconditioning thousands of bikes, he has become a finely tuned machine that, miraculously, never gets dirty! Blaise began his career here at the tender age of 14, sweeping floors and emptying trash; however, seven years later, having studied extensively with Sensei Reed, he is now our head mechanic.
As for the rest of our staff, each one brings his or her particular specialty to the task of serving you...
