Description
Reading is a vibrant and lively town located 30 miles west of London. Known as the UK’s ‘Silicon Valley’, it is a thriving centre of commerce and light industry with low unemployment and a wealth of top career opportunities. Many international names have made a base in the town including Hewlett Packard, Microsoft, Prudential and Gillette.
Reading boasts a good nightlife with an excellent reputation for pubs, clubs, live music and theatre. Local venues host a full programme of concerts, plays and film screenings throughout the year, and the town is home to a number of festivals including the three day rock festival in August and WOMAD – World of Music, Arts and Dance in July. In addition all the attractions of London are less than half an hour away.
Great shopping is made easy in Reading. High Street brands such as Debenhams and John Lewis feature alongside small specialist shops – over 90 retailers can be found in the modern Oracle Shopping Centre. Situated just ten minutes from our Kings Road campus this centre also hosts a ten-screen cinema and a range of riverside bars, cafés and restaurants.
