The company is a diversified, full-service real estate sales and related services organization. The firm engages in the marketing, management, leasing, and development of residential, investment, commercial properties and enterprises throughout Charleston and the South Carolina Lowcountry.

In 1947, Thomas Carpenter Read, Helen Emerson Read, Emerson Bracket Read and Thomas Lee Read founded Read & Read as a real estate and insurance partnership. The company grew rapidly as sales of insurance and Charleston real estate increased in the post-war era. King Street merchants recognized Read & Read as a reputable, local source of insurance, and lawyers and bankers realized the value of the company's Charleston real estate knowledge.

As the Charleston real estate market expanded, the company continued to grow with 35 sales associates and three branches. The commercial real estate and investment division and the commercial property management department saw great success and became integral parts of our real estate business.
