Description
The Rev. Michael Otte responded to our call to be our pastor in early 2000 and began his duties on September 1, 2000. Prior to that he served four Reformed Churches in New York City, the last of which was the Old First Reformed Church in Brooklyn, where he served for 12 years.
His education began with his mother, who read to him every night before bedtime. It continued through various institutions of "higher" learning: Calvin College, where he studied political science and philosophy, the University of Michigan, English Literature, and Princeton Theological Seminary, Biblical Theology. And it isn't over yet, as he still has much to learn.
In 1972 he was lucky enough to marry Debra Lynn Bergsma, with whom he has two children, David, 20, and Elizabeth, 23. His hobbies are bridge and golf. He reads history and biography, with a few novels thrown in to keep life in balance.
