- Red Cross Pharmacy started as a single store located in the small river town of Miami Missouri in 1854. In 1879, the pharmacy was moved to Marshall Missouri after a major fire wiped out most of the town. The pharmacy was relocated to the space it still occupies today on the Marshall Square. Through the years ownership exchanged hands several times until the Hartwig family purchased controlling interest in 1971. Another store was opened in Marshall in 1975 and in Salisbury in 1980. Heartland Medical Equipment, Inc. was established in 1988 to provide some diversification and to meet the home service needs of existing patients.
