Description
Randi Baird graduated from Syracuse University in 1987 earning a BFA in Photography. She moved to San Francisco and started assisting commercial photographers in the Bay Area. In 1989 she started working for Greenpeace International and was assigned to be the on-board photographer for the Rainbow Warrior, Greenpeace's flag-ship. Between 1990 - 1994 Randi documented Greenpeace expeditions to the French Nuclear Test Site in Moraroa, Drift Net Fishers in Hakodate, Japan,
and photographed the Nuclear Free Seas campaign in Valdivostok, Russia. Her photographs were distributed internationally by the Associated Press, United Press International & Reuters.
Between expeditions Randi worked as an editorial photographer in San Francisco where her worked appeared in Musician Magazine, Parenting, Mother Jones, & Keyboard Magazine. She specializes in environmental portraiture which she describes as using the landscape around her subject to create an impression or tell a story.
