- Like many people, we (Joe & Amy) spent much of our lives blissfully unaware of the gross injustices facing many people around the world today. Worse, had we been aware of the issues, we might have been tempted, as many are, to pass them off as "too big" or not our problem. But God had something else in mind for us in the fall of 2005. He was reminding us of Jesus' challenge to all of His followers- to care about others and to do all we can for them. When we heard about the International Justice Mission through a book by its president Gary A. Haugen, "The Good News About Injustice," our eyes were opened and there was no turning back. Remembering that Jesus paid our ransom, freeing us from a life of sin, selfishness and an eternity apart from Him, we knew we owed Him our lives' devotion; and that meant committing ourselves to what He loves and cares about most.
