As we are all aware, the Indian Government has initiated a massive restructuring plan for modernization and expansion of Indian highways and roads on a national level. A decision has been taken to refurbish approximately 30,000 Kms of roads by the end of 2006. A major part of this expansion program has already been completed. 6 Lane Expressways are underway connecting all major cities in the country.
Per our Chairman – Mr. Lalit Sheth’s vision, the time has come to provide suitable transport facilities to both, the Indian traveler as well as the overseas holidaymaker. Poor infrastructure has always been a major hurdle to vie the International traveler. Within the parameters of poor infrastructure facilities, “Roads” has been a high priority area that has finally been addressed by the Indian Government. Per the recent declaration made by Mr. Montek Singh Ahluwalia, we will have superior quality roads and National Highways as quickly as end 2006. The formation of Raj National Express has taken place purely in this purview.
RNE will be India’s first super luxury transport service provider in the organized sector. Initially we will launch 16 Volvo coaches that will ply on a hub and spoke operating system with Mumbai as the centralized station. Our services will be between Mumbai and Ahmedabad, Goa, Nagpur, Nashik covering all major cities in Maharashtra & Gujarat. In phase II we will extend our services to Rajasthan and Punjab, and in phase III we will network our services Nationwide. The launch is scheduled for the 3rd week of November 2005 and the entire network will be in position plying approximately 60 coaches by the end of 2006.
