Sarah sustained a brain injury in a car accident in 1995 when she was 16 years old. After a 5 month long coma, Sarah began her slow rehabilitation, having to re-learn many of the bodily functions that we take for granted, such as swallowing, eating, taking a deep breath, moving her limbs purposefully, and initiating words and actions. Family, friends, therapists, and teachers continually help Sarah along this road towards recovery. Her loving nature and gentle sense of humor are endearing.
