Railfax is the former publisher of Extra 2200 South, subtitled The Locomotive Newsmagazine, edited by Don Dover with Dan Dover and Dick Will . Railfax sells back issues #1 through #90 (only) which it published from 1968-1990. These issues contain information, photographs, drawings, railroad locomotive rosters, news and feature articles, mostly diesel. The Railfax name was created in 1980. Railfax also sells the book Rock Island Diesel Locomotives (1930-1980) by Louis A. Marre. This volume presents the total story of Rock Island internal combustion locomotives from 1930 to 1980, complete with description, history, significance, roster and system map. Format is 8-1/2" x 11" stitched, heavy paperbound with 148 pages, 39 full-color photos and over 300 black and white photos. Price is $22 postpaid in USA; foreign postage add $2.00. Dealer discount is available (minimum order is five) for the RI book, write for terms. (No discount on X2200 magazines).
Most of our large supply of back issues are collectibles from the original press run (issues #39 through #90). Issues #63 through #90 have color covers. Issues #20 through #35 are reprints on enamel paper. Early issues from 1968 and 1969 plus 36, 37, and 38 (long out of stock) are a mixture of some printed, some digital laser Xerox copies. These are loose leaf issues.
