In business for nearly 40 years, Qualiton is the oldest independent distributor of imported classical recordings in the U.S. Begun in the early 1960s by Hungarian refugee Otto Quittner, a prominent attorney in Budapest before the 1956 uprising, Qualiton started business by importing Hungarian LPs. Gradually, the distribution base expanded to include labels from other European nations such as England, Sweden and Italy.
