Punjab Restaurant: Sat Sri Akal - Welcome
Description
It is the UK's oldest Punjabi (North Indian) restaurant serving authentic regional Punjabi cuisine. Gurbachan Singh Maan, a passionate food-loving Punjabi, founded the restaurant in 1947. He adored Punjabi cuisine and regularly cooked delicious homemade curries and daals for friends and family.
Gurbachan arrived in the UK in 1936 from the lush fields of the Punjab. A true hard working Punjabi entrepreneur, he made his fortune in selling household goods and items direct to homes throughout southeast England during the period of world war two.
It was only until 1947, Gurbachan transformed his passion for Punjabi food into business by establishing the Punjab Restaurant in the City of London serving homemade Indian dishes, rustic, wholesome and full of earthy flavours
