Description
Before setting up PT Proofreading Services, I worked in IT for over twenty years, progressing from a Computer Operations scheduler / analyst to leading the Testing and Implementation team.
As Team Leader, I was responsible for the career progression of my team, gaining experience in performing job appraisals, producing training plans and interviewing potential recruits. As a Technical Specialist, I was responsible for producing and reviewing various in-house technical documents, e.g. feasibility studies, technical strategies, test plans and implementation plans. Clarity and correctness were vital to communicating a common understanding to the project team or selling a proposal to management.
I decided on a career change so that I could spend more time at my rural home in north Wales. I passed a proofreading and copy-editing course by Chapterhouse, the publishing trainers, and became an associate of SfEP, the Society for Editors and Proofreaders.
