Description
PSMRE is a non-profit club whose charter is to build, maintain and operate a world-class HO (1:87) model, featuring highlights of the Tacoma area during the 1950's. This is a 1700 sq. ft. model railroad exhibit and club layout, and mainline construction is complete. For more information about the layout see the exhibit page.
We have some funding from the State of Washington and space in the Washington State History Museum, but our membership provides the skill and effort to build and operate the layout. Some members have extensive experience, others are rather new. This means there are opportunities to contribute your existing skills, and build new ones. We need people to work on the exhibit as a whole, on electronics and software, on scenery, on track, operations, signaling, structures, rolling stock, locomotive maintenance ... all sorts of fun! One of the most rewarding experiences is to act as docent (or tour guide if you will) and answer questions from the public. People really enjoy looking at the model.
