Personal Services of Aroostook was first established in 1989 by the State of Maine and other community members. The “Wavier Home” served as the initial facility. It was a six person residential house that served adults with Mental Retardation and/or Autism. Organizations like PSA were established by the state to fill the void of services to consumers after the closing of medical institutions such as Pineland in the mid 1970’s.
