Owner vs. Employee
Whats is the difference between an AboutUs owner or and an AboutUs employee?
- Owner is someone who works on growing and building the business
- Employee works within the biz
We hope you consider yourself to be the owner of AboutUs because we each have a stake in the company.
how do we think like an owner
- do-ocracy is also thinking like an owner
- figure out what needs to be done
- think at high level about the goals of the company and how you can make them happen
What kind of company do we have?
lifestyle? established?
- we are a growth company/startup
- we are on the runway and need to prove that we can take off
How do we do that?
- get to series A
- we have to get Venture Capitalist money
- they need to see a plan, numbers, and strategy before they invest in you
- what would the company look like in 1 yr. 5 yrs?
- i.e demonstrate revenue and growth that shows us to be going towards profitability
- we have to get Venture Capitalist money
How to get to core customer?
- Our core customer is an internet savvy Small Business Owner who is seeking to attract more customers.
What do we sell them now? (and in a year (or 5 yrs) down the road?)
We have to ask what is it that they want?
- they want more customers.
How can we help them get to those customers
- 3rd party credibility makes a big difference
- Make their pages more inviting, dynamic and channel some of our traffic to them
What are the strategic implications of Promote my Company?
- people who pay have invested in that page
- they are much more likely to keep them an eye on with their page
- they also invest in making their page have great content which plays well with search engines and is liked by people
- we also get the revenue (and gives us more runway to sustain the growth longer)
- they probably will link the badge, and we want that badge to have a very strong meaning that makes their biz be associated with the wiki values such as transparency, engaging etc
Orders
we are taking orders: 20 orders in 26 hrs is huge!!!
- we want to over-deliver on these orders to:
- spread the word of mouth,
- give us good review,
- give us referrals,
- giving us the opportunity to do cross-selling. i.e. if they are impressed by one of our product, they may be more likely to buy more or future services from us
- we need to make them feel that they were warmly attended to. so the interaction with them is more important
Wiki Coach
- empathize with that person
- deeply identify with that person
- ask yourself: what can i ask them to extract the information that (they may not be obvious to them but) can help them help us make a great wiki page
- wiki coaches need to teach and learn from each other
- you may have 4hrs in total to attend to 2 people
- we need to make it efficient that we can do it in 30 min or 15.
- we need to teach each other how to fill out the role of wiki coach

Thoughts for Next Meeting
- what are the specifcs we can do to get to done done?
- how do you get to over deliver?
- what does it take to get to objective results?
- we should continue thinking about these
- ask yourself if you would want to be a wiki coach in the near future?
- think about what skills *you* persoinally need to develop to reach there.
- what would it take to demonstrate to operations that u have these skills?
- one of the ways to get there is to participate in coming up with the definitions.
- it could become a career. coaching wiki coaches.
Questions
Q: Question was asked on how would we go about contacting the people who ordered?
- Logistics are not important at the moment on how to connect with them, we can get a company wide skype out account
- Question should be, whats is the best and most effective way to communicate with them.
- How can we provide them stats on traffic, before and after?
- What are the skills that we have to have in order to deliver on those promises
Q: core customers may are not looking for wiki coaches, they just want more customers, why do we need coaches?
A: agreed.
- figure out a different name for wiki coach. perhaps Business Expert.
- One suggestion to take a stab at handing coaching is that we keep to our individual skills as primary and contribute to multiple orders using just our primary skills. That way lots of coaches experts in their fields get together to make one page look better. Two people can pair on two pages. Four can pair on four. 8 on 8 and cycle through the orders contributing your best skills to them.
- Important thing not to loose during this is that it does not escape the done done process. Someone still need to take charge of the page.
- Looking at the engagement model, and the offer we have sent them, a coach can take the order, be the contact person, and then behind the scenes work on the page can be done by AboutUs.
This is the break through for our company. Its an exciting time for us to show off to the VCs and to the world what we are capable of and we should be proud of ourselves and deserve cheers! *claps*

Something to keep in mind that we don't really have yet that we could develop individually and as a company
- advertisement/marketing skills
- branding skills
- graphic designing skills also (becoming experts in Wiki-markup language)
