- A successful entrepreneur and venture creator, Mitch Thrower is the co-founder of the worlds largest participatory sports software companies, The Active Europe Network, Ltd, and The Active Network, Inc.. Currently the CEO and General Manager of the Active Europe Network Ltd, Thrower served in almost every role of the US firm during its expansion and growth; including, successfully leading the international expansion and launch of Active Europe Network Ltd, as a separate company. Thrower was the relationship architect behind the Active Network's rapid growth, funding and acquisitions. He was responsible for many of the firms mergers and strategic partnerships, including the relationship with Ticketmaster. A serial entrepreneur, prior to co-founding the Active Network (now employing over 100 people in the US), he was President and COO of Triathlete Magazine and Founder, President and CEO of The College Connection and The Rail Connection, a firm he founded in 1990 in his college dorm room, and sold in 1997. He holds a bachelors in Philosophy from Saint Lawrence University, an MBA from University of San Diego and is a monthly columnist and an avid writer. Thrower is a 13 time Ironman Triathlete, owner of Triathlete Magazine and is the Chairman and founder of the non-profit initiative, Project Active - Diffusing world tensions through sport.
