Title

Variable Data Printing by Printing Technology Services

Description

Printing Technology Services (PTS) was formed in 1999 by acquiring the assets of a company known as Vikon Imaging, which as previously known as NBS Southern. As far back as 1970, NBS Southern had been providing interfaces between mainframe computers and electronic printing systems. These systems were followed by the sheet-fed Mercurion variable data printing system, which had the Delphax ion deposition print engine at its core. By the late 1980s, NBS Southern had developed a new raster image processing (RIP) technology and was offering Mercurion printers with the new RIP technology to the variable data printing industry. In the early 1990s, NBS Southern utilized its proprietary RIP and the Delphax ion deposition print engine to develop a variable data printing system for continuous web applications known as Vision I, and later evolved into Vision II. NBS Southern subsequently became Vikon Imaging, and Vikon Imaging focused on the development of a new variable data print technology known as Direct Charge Imaging (DCI). Vikon Imaging was dissolved in 1998 due to lack of funding for the new DCI print technology. In 1999, PTS was formed by acquiring the assets of the former Vikon Imaging.

Since that time, PTS has supported the Vision II printing systems, and has evolved those printing systems that are based on the Delphax Electron Beam Imaging (EBI) technology into the ElectroFlex family of products. In 2001, PTS began implementation of an ink jet printing technology, which has evolved into the JetFlex family of products. In 2002, PTS developed a PDF RIP (Raster Image Processor), which has evolved into the RIPFlex family of products. In 2004, PTS developed our image verification capability, which evolved into the VeriFlex family of products. In 2005, PTS developed a manifold ink delivery system for the JetFlex printing systems, which has evolved into the ManiFlex family of products. In 2005, PTS also developed a PCL RIP capability, which adds to our RIPFlex family of products.

PTS continues to invest in engineering development to add more capability to our existing products, and to bring new products to the market. Our primary market market focus is variable data printing in the commercial printing environment. PTS is driven by Customer Satisfaction, for both product development and customer service. Please let us know how PTS can better serve your needs.
