Description
Preston Porter was born in 1984 and grew up in Olympia, Washington. Since an early age he always had an interest in the art world, taking classes classes after school in drawing, painting, and other mediums. It wasn't until his senior year when he sparked an interest in video in his Digital Video class.
Just a few weeks after graduating high school in June 2002, Preston began the Video Production program at the Art Institute of Seattle. While learning and experiencing first-hand every aspect of production from shooting interviews, making short films and commercials, to designing treatments and rundowns for television shows, he began to have a strong interest in post-production. In his third quarter he established a relationship with BMW Seattle for whom he made a commercial about their M5 Sedan. Spending only $30 on BetaCam videotapes and DAT cassettes, Preston was able to make a broadcast-level commercial, shooting his footage in one day and using the versatile compositor, After Effects..
Graduating in December 2003, Preston is now self-employed as both a freelancer in the digital video and graphic industry and as a small business owner in the Puget Sound.
