Precision Captioning's mission is to increase the awareness of captioning in the general public and to educate a segment of the television industry that is unaware of the seervice and that is also unaware of the FCC mandate that requires 100% of all new television progrogramming be captioned by January 1, 2006. The benefits of captioning now extend far beyond assisting the deaf and hard of hearing communities. It continues to expand and reach millions of new viewers that can utilize captioning as a viable educational tool for improving literacy.
Prior to opening PRECISION CAPTIONING in 1999, Yvonne spent 10 years as the Director of Production of the largest captioning facility in the country. Knowledgeable in all aspects of captioning, she started Precision to fill the need for high-quality captions that function as an educational tool for children and students of English in addition to servicing the deaf community.
Frank Shapiro has worked in the captioning industry since 1986 as an editor, reviewer, and manager. He is responsible for the daily captioning operations at PRECISION and final reviewing all captioned programming.
