Porter Research was founded in 1989 just as the information technology industry was entering a new phase of accelerated innovation. Since then, new and established companies have needed ever richer knowledge about their markets and customers while maintaining a broad reach of market coverage.
Passion for research – It started in the early days of the latest long-wave of IT development beginning in the late 1980s and continued through the publication of our ground-breaking book, The Quest for Loyalty, and our newest sales text, The Seller's Edge. Our passion for research continues to burn bright in our customized research, books on IT loyalty and competitive strategy, and industry conference presentations.
Experience in the information technology industry – Our experience in the modern IT industry is deeply rooted. We were founded just before the first Windows operating system was released. And, our experience has grown through such IT industry milestones as the Internet revolution, the growth of dot-coms, Y2K, and now a period of IT retrenchment and reorganization.
