Excerpted from the website:

The Polo School District is located mainly in southwest corner of Ogle county in northern Illinois, and includes small sections of Whiteside and Lee counties. The area is mainly agricultural with rolling hills dotted with forested areas. The town of Polo, founded in 1857, has a population of approximately 2500 and is a rather typical Midwestern small town.
Initially the town had separate elementary and high school districts, but these combined to form the current unit school district in 1954. Centennial Elementary School houses grades K-5 as well as pre-school services. Aplington Middle School contains grades 6-8, while the High School has grades 9-12.
The district has officially adopted the following School District Philosophy:
Polo Community Unit Schools are established and maintained for the purpose of meeting the educational needs of all boys and girls of this community. We feel the opportunity for an education is a right which is extended to all.
