History
Name given by Francisco Antonio Maurelle as "Punta de la Amargura", meaning "point of bitterness", "either May 21, 1779, when he first anchored there or May 27, when he returned to the same point. He was obliged to remain in the bay west of the point until the 30th, hence, perhaps the name" (wagner, 1937, p. 372).
