The Eduplay Corporation, which began as Playorena Inc., opened it's first Playorena location in 1981. Playorena is the result of over twenty-five years of development starting in 1974 at a community center in Marin County, California, where Susan Astor designed a toddler program, called Kindergym. Together with her husband Michael, a psychotherapist, they created a developmentally appropriate recreational program based on the premise that self-acceptance is a major key to growth and development.
