PlatinumPebble.com is a luxury Cape Cod Inn & small Boutique Hotel in Harwich, MA
The Platinum Pebble Boutique Inn is a luxury Cape Cod Bed and Breakfast and boutique hotel located a short stroll from the beaches of Nantucket sound in Harwich, MA. The inn is unique for Cape Cod as it combines a minimalist contemporary interior design within an historic sea captain's house. The house was built in the early 1800's and was owned by Thomas Lewis Snow who captained large schooners that sailed to Japan and China. The inn was completely renovated in 2010. Its mid-cape location is ideal for ferries to the islands, whale-watching, antiques shopping in Chatham, bird-watching and for bike trails and kayaking. The inn has a swimming pool and free Wi-Fi.
The Platinum Pebble Boutique Inn follows in the footsteps of previous Cape Cod Inns at the 186 Belmont address. There has been an inn at this address since 1945, originally the Sea Breeze Inn, then, when purchased by Nadine and Bill Schmidt, the name was changed to the Lion's Head Inn. In 2010 the inn was purchased by Annabelle and Simon Hunton who renamed and relaunched the inn as The Platinum Pebble.
The inn itself is housed in a gorgeous and historic sea captain's house from the 19th century. Originally owned by Captain Thomas Lewis Snow, a schooner captain of Orient bound ships, the house was owned for many years by the Baptist church and acted as the Manse to the church and was the scene for numerous Cape Cod weddings. In 1945 it started it's current life as an upscale Cape Cod Inn. The inn's location on Belmont Road also places it on what was the street that was home to Cape Cod's most famous and grand hotel, The Belmont Hotel. The Belmont Hotel was the vacationing spot for the gentry on the East Coast and offered the height of luxury accommodation. This tradition has been continued in Harwich where you will still find the top luxury hotels The Wequassett, The Wychmere Beach Club and now The Platinum Pebble. Harwich itself is steeped in history from the whaling era through to being the birthplace of the Cranberry industry and also is blessed with four harbors making it unique on Cape Cod.
Its location at the center of the Cape and close proximity to Chatham make it the ideal vacation spot for visitors wishing to explore the Cape. The Platinum Pebble has 8 guest rooms and sits on slightly under 2 acres of land a short walk from the beaches of Nantucket Sound. There is a large outdoor swimming pool and landscaped gardens.
