Title

Aero Graphics Atlanta Georgia Aerial Photography

Description

Aero Graphics has been providing aerial photography and related products since 1993. We produced what we believe to be the first large-scale digital aerial photomosaic in 1994. This was an axonometric view of the Charleston peninsula comprised from 140 separate images, and composited on a Quadra 840AV Macintosh workstation (with an eye-popping 128 MB of RAM). The resulting 120 MB raster file set records at the service bureau. This was followed by another dual-perspective view of the San Francisco peninsula in 1995. This 650-image 2GB mural was an instant classic - and one of the first

images to test the full capabilities of Cymbolic Sciences' new LightJet 5000 digital printer. 1996 saw the first-ever digital photomosaic of Metropolitan Atlanta, seamlessly covering 2000 square miles with 900 scanned images. Tampa Bay followed in 1998. These mosaics were all constructed in Photoshop using custom color-correction and compositing routines. By 1999, the GIS industry had caught up, and subsequent mosaics (now topping out at 5000 square miles) would be done using a combination of off-the-shelf solutions. You can see the 2004 (50 GB) Atlanta photomosaic here.

Along the way, we've done standard vertical and oblique photography of commercial & residential sites, along with legal, event, and construction progress. We were among the first to produce real estate sales package presentations using Macromedia Flash® to combine aerial photography with demographic, occupancy, and sales data.
