Maria Falconer
PilatesPeople was started by Maria Falconer in February 2002 to help meet the growing demand for Pilates training in Scotland's capital city. Maria, who holds an MSc in Exercise Science and BA Hons in Contemporary Dance was first introduced to Pilates in 1988, when she was studying at the Laban Centre for Movement and Dance in London. Since then Maria has been using the principles of Pilates to train gymnasts, dancers and athletes working at highly competitive levels. Maria quallified to teach Pilates through Polestar Pilates, an internationally acclaimed training organization.
With more than 15 years experience working in the field of Health and Fitness, Maria's professional achievements include, developing a successful personal fitness training business in Leamington Spa, coaching athletes from recreational to national levels, and designing fitness programmes in San Francisco for disabled people.
Maria has always been extremely active herself. Originally training as a dancer, she also enjoys rock climbing, running and weight training. In 1998 and 1999 she sucessfully completed the national fitness challenges "Ultrafit" and "Tropicano".
