Description
The Paediatric Investigators Collaborative Network on Infections in Canada (PICNIC) was formed in 1991 to "promote, facilitate and engage in collaborative research that will advance understanding of the pathogenesis, causes, natural history, diagnosis, management and most importantly, prevention, of infections that affect the fetus, newborn, infant, child and adolescent." Consisting largely of specialists in childhood infectious diseases based at university-affiliated hospitals our group has been successful in obtaining funding, publishing results and presenting abstracts at national and international meetings.
