The historic market town of Pickering (formerly known as Piceringas and Pykering) is situated between York and Scarborough. Providing the official gateway to the beautiful North York Moors National Park. Also known to many as the North Yorkshire Moors.

The town draws a large number of visitors (mostly during the summer months), many are day trippers visiting the North Yorkshire Moors Steam Railway (the longest steam railway in England).
