- The company was founded in 1895 by Frederick Phelps to manufacture and sell pianos in its workshops and showrooms in Kentish Town, which was then a flourishing centre for the piano trade. By the mid 20th century restorations and sales along with other musical instruments, sheet music and accessories were added to the range of products.
