Pensacola Opera
Description
The mission of Pensacola Opera is to enrich the culture of the Northwest Florida Region by producing professional opera performances, educational programs and other opera-related community events for people of all ages, interests and backgrounds.
In 19th century Paris, the beautiful courtesan Violetta and her lover Alfredo are living together in a liaison contrary to polite society. The lovers' bliss is shattered when Alfredo's father pleads for Violetta to leave his son for the sake of his family's reputation. In an ultimate act of devotion, Violetta ends the relationship. Once the vengeful Alfredo realizes her sacrifice, it is too late.
Servants Figaro and Susanna are preparing to wed, but their philandering employer, Count Almaviva, wants Susanna for himself. In the meantime, the pageboy Cherubino is courting the Count's wife while the Countess's former governess, Marcellina, is wooing Figaro, and all are secretly scheming to win their heart's desire. In the end, Figaro gets his bride, but Mozart leaves us to ponder whether love conquers all.
