Robin Stokes is the Principal Training Consultant of Peak ICT Ltd. With a background of 25 years designing and delivering training solutions to adults, Robin has been teaching signalling design, faulting and maintenance in the rail industry for over 16 years the last six for Peak ICT.
During 10 years at the Railway Engineering School, Derby, Robin taught a wide variety of courses offered by the school and was responsible for the development of many new courses, structured training and work experience programmes, teaching and assessment methods. This experience included 3 years as Chief Instructor Signalling.
Robin was head of the Rail Sector in the European Funded Safety Net Project, involving 19 companies from 11 European countries in 4 safety critical industry sectors. The purpose of the project was to enable safety critical training to be delivered and assessed remotely whilst providing an improved standard of competence. The Rail Sector successfully combined computer-based training, video conferenced tutorials and internet assessment for signalling faulting and maintenance personnel. This technique was presented at several international conferences including Asia Rail ’97, UIC Training Conference 98 and ITEC 98 in Lausanne.
