Paul Lee bass guitarist - Paul Lee, is an American bass player, vocalist, composer, producer and arranger.
At age 19, Paul was playing bass professionally in the South Florida area. Within a few years he joined a band called Gate 8, a popular 80's band best known for playing large shows on Florida beaches, the Palm Beach Grand Prix and Fair Grounds Speedway. In 1985 the band cut their first album “Turbo Rock” and an MTV music video called “Marilyn”
In 1994, he was playing bass for Bo Diddley Jr. and a Florida based band called Serious Jones. He has also performed with other popular Florida bands such as the Big Dog band, Eddie Raye band, Conspiracy and On The Roxx. He has performed in a countless number of clubs to stadium crowds of 10,000 plus. Paul can also be seen on various You Tube music videos with an original band called LeVeL561.
Paul developed his own innovative technique, incorporating a high-energy slapping and solo style that showcased the diverse range of the bass guitar not just as a background instrument, but as a unique musical voice in a band context. He also incorporates many of the same techniques that are also employed by such bass greats as Victor Wooten, Stanley Clarke and John Entwistle. These techniques allow him to achieve an array of sounds during live performances.
Paul has varied his equipment list continually throughout his career. At this time he is using Sadowsky NYC and Fodera basses. For amplification, Thunderfunk TFB750, GK MBFusion bass amps and 4x10 Bergantino bass cabinets. Current pedal board consists of, MXR 288 Bass Octave Deluxe, MXR Bass M-82 Envelope Filter, Analogman Chorus, EBS DPhaser, Turbo Tuner by Sonic Research. All powered by Voodoo Lab Pedal Power.
