Patrick’s Press was started in 1981, by John P. Campbell with the publication of his 113 page Academic Bowl Material. This booklet was soon replaced by his 524 page Campbell’s High School/College Quiz Book, then replaced in 2003 by Campbell’s High School/College Book of Lists. Campbell’s Constant Quiz Companion: the Middle/High School Book of Lists, Terms, and Questions has recently been revised and is accompanied by a CD-ROM version. Company president and author John Campbell now has a total of 17 quiz books still in print for the elementary, middle and high school levels.

From the beginning, Patrick’s Press has produced and marketed competition questions and received high marks for their quality. Besides customizing questions for specific competitions, the company offers packets of toss-up and bonus questions, all toss-ups, and lightning rounds or theme rounds (and some written assessment rounds).
