The idea for a Darts History web site was first suggested to me back in the late 1990s by my good friend Sheila Handley. I was not so sure, but she persuaded me to give it a go – so I did. Three years on and, at the time of writing this new introduction, nearly 30,000 darts fans have visited the site. (I guess Sheila was right! I should have known.)
For those visiting for the first time ever, my name is Patrick Chaplin, I live in the UK and have been described over here as ‘The Doctor of Darts’ (Darts World magazine), ‘eccentric’ (The Guardian) and ‘an arrers nut’ (The Sun). I own up to all of that – and more.
