Title
Pasadena Symphony Orchestra
Description
Currently celebrating its 78th season, The Pasadena Symphony has been lauded as one of Southern California's cultural treasures. Diverse programming, musical excellence, exceptional artistic leadership and deep community support are among the hallmarks which have made it a major success among its peers.
Success can also be attributed, in great part, to its stable musical leadership. During the Symphony's lengthy history, it has been led by just four music directors.
Founded in 1928 just prior to the Great Depression by conductor Reginald Bland, the orchestra flourished from the beginning. Eight years later, in 1939, Austrian conductor Richard Lert was appointed music director. During his 36-year tenure, he distinguished himself as one of the most important conducting teachers in America.
