Title

Pasanita Dog Obedience Club -- We train you to train your dog

Description

Pasanita Obedience Club, the west's oldest obedience club, was first organized in 1940 as a dog training class and was called the Santa Anita Obedience Club. They held no regular meetings and collected no membership dues beyond the small fee for training. The Club was later re-organized and established as a separate unit from the training class. At the time of the re-organization the name was changed to Pasanita Obedience Club - a combination of the former name of Santa Anita and the city of Pasadena.

Pasanita’s first training classes were held at a riding academy in Altadena. For the over sixty years the club has conducted novice, open and utility training classes on Wednesday evenings in Brookside Park, Pasadena, near the famous Rose Bowl. The training facilities at Brookside Park have improved through the years from an asphalt parking lot to a large dirt area, to what is now considered the ultimate in training areas – a beautiful grass area with the a modern lighting and public address system and also a club equipment building. Novice classes are also conducted on Saturday mornings.

Pasanita gave its first American Kennel Club Member All Breed Obedience Trial on November 9, 1947, with a total of 102 entries. Our trials now have around double that number of entries each year.
