We have been avid model builders for over 40 years. We begin in the days when the transmitters had vacuum tubes and this huge battery. We only had one control. Rudder! This model was more like Free Flight with direction control. Then we moved to a system called "Galloping Ghost". The control surfaces would flutter equally up and down. The transmitter control caused the control surface to flutter more in one direction then another. At the same time we had Radio Systems called "Reeds".
